Medical Malpractice Cases
Shania Gay Ffrench: a 29 year old victim of a doctor’s misdiagnosis of a spinal tumor. She suffered paralysis to her lower spine and legs. Settlement was with some of the medical doctors and the case was tried with the remaining doctor in July of 2009. With the help of Merryl F. Weiner, the Westchester jury reached an unprecedented $48 million verdict for Ms. Ffrench, which included 50 years lifetime future medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.
Ilda Gonzalez: In January 2010, Kevin J. Quaranta tried to verdict the case of this 50 year old Hispanic waitress who after being injured on the job was misdiagnosed by two doctors connected with St. Vincent’s Hospital. The jury returned a verdict to the plaintiff for almost $1.2 million for this hand injury.
Olga Acevedo: A wrongful death claim for a Bronx woman in her 60s with undiagnosed colon cancer. This case was settled for $1.2 million prior to trial.
John & Marie Hanglow: Misdiagnosis of cancer which also caused the death of our client, John Hanglow, and resulted in a nearly $1 million settlement from the doctors and hospital involved.
Carmen Caballero: A breast cancer survivor and woman in her 50s who received a settlement for $600,000 as a result of a doctor’s negligence in failing to diagnose her breast cancer.
Yvonne Valdez: A Westchester resident who was mistreated due to a doctor’s malpractice and resulting perforation of her esophagus which resulted in a pre-trial settlement of a significant six-figure amount.
Auto, Premises & Other Cases
Maria Khalil: An auto accident victim in Rockland County requiring significant therapy and incurring great wage loss resulting in a $400,000 settlement before trial.
Triundy Santana and Ignacio Ledesma: Separate car accident victims resulting in six-figure awards prior to trial in these New York City cases.
Tara McNally: A 30-year-old cab accident victim with ankle injuries was awarded a substantial six figure amount in a settlement prior to jury verdict.
Fausta Gamboa: A case tried to verdict by Kevin J. Quaranta for a woman with a leg fracture who was left by a New York City Transit bus driver at a hazardous location. This resulted in a significant six-figure verdict.
Dennis Bellamy: A case tried against Columbia University by Kevin J. Quaranta for a slip and fall resulting in a six figure award.
Luz Pagan-Ortiz: A paralyzed woman who was bitten by a rat at a New York City shelter. After extensive litigation, this matter was settled with the owner/operator of the shelter prior to trial for an undisclosed amount.
Diana Cortes: An accident victim who suffered injuries as a result of a supermarket fall and received a $90,000 settlement.
Marie Kelleher: An 88 year old woman who fell at a resort in the Dominican Republic resulting in fractured bones. Ms. Kelleher also received a $90,000settlement prior to trial.
